brake padsWhen you buy your Buick Car in Thunder Bay, we have a full service center to help maintain all of your new and used Buick Car routine service work, as well as anything out of the ordinary you may come across in the lifetime of your Buick Cars.  However, should you want to pull a diy, we are here today to pass along some information we stumbled upon in our Thunder Bay Buick Car research.

Here is a bit of what Edmunds has to say on the subject, right off the bat, “You will be pleasantly surprised to find that you can change your car’s disc brake pads quickly, easily and without specialized tools. Doing it yourself also will save you a lot of money. But even if you’re not interesting in doing this yourself, knowing what’s involved makes it easier to understand what your mechanic may someday tell you.”

On the up side, when it comes to brake location, the newest cars and trucks have disc brakes in the front.  These make for a much more plausible diy situation when you are the type to take on your own Buick Car service in Thunder Bay ON.  On the down side, with this location for the pads, they also need replacing more often.  “Nearly all cars these days have front disc brakes. Front brakes usually wear out more quickly than the rear brakes (which could either be disc or drum brakes), so they need to be changed more often. You need to change brake pads when they get too thin, especially if they begin to make a persistent metallic squeaking or grinding noise when you press the brake pedal.”  Stay tuned to future write-ups here on just how to change your own brake pads, or call and schedule an appointment for your Buick Car service in Ontario today.
