Car tires on winter roadIn our last article on winter maintenance, we shared some tips about how to keep your tires in great shape and to avoid issues as they relate to poor tire treads.  In this article, we will look at some of the smaller details that will make your winter drive more manageable.  These are inexpensive steps you can take that will increase your safety on the roadways.

  • Replace your wiper blades and make sure your washer fluid levels are all in good shape.  The last thing you want to do is find yourself in a snow or sleet storm and have tattered wiper blades that make it nearly impossible to see clearly out of your windshield. This is a cheap and easy fix that keeps you safe on the roads but it’s one step that you should think about before you find yourself in the middle of the storm.
  • Keep the undercarriage of your vehicle clean.  The snow and salt from the roadways can really build up under your car.  Believe it or not, this can really cause damage to your car including premature rusting as well as damage to your frame!  Keep this issue as minimal as possible by cleaning the undercarriage of your Buick car as thoroughly as possible.
  • Keep your headlights clean and functioning properly.  If you have a headlight that has burned out, don’t wait to have it replaced.  It is simple and inexpensive and is important to your safety on the roadways.  Also important is keeping your headlight clean.  Just like your undercarriage of your car, the salt can really cause your headlights to be foggy or cloudy.  You may even consider adding a little wax to your headlights to keep the salt from sticking on them.
