When GMC’s engineers were designing the all new 2014 GMC Sierra, they wanted this truck to have the top of the line technology. GM believes in their philosophy that a better solution is always found through technology and innovation.

GMC even has technology that you can use on your iPad or iPhone in the form of an app that gives you information on trailering.  It allows users to familiarize themselves with the towing capabilities of their pickups and to outline a variety of towing scenarios in a condensed, digital format. It even has videos with helpful instructions.

Now where Sierra really excels in trailer safety is in the available trailer brake controller that is located near the steering wheel for easy adjustments.  It shows the level of brake force in the Driver Info Center. There is also the Standard Trailer Sway Control tech that keeps the trailer heading in the right direction by using sensors to detect any rocking or swaying of the trailer. If it notices any of these, it applies the brakes and brings it back in line. This makes pulling a trailer a much more pleasurable experience.

The Sierra comes in a variety of engine availability with V8 gas engines – 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L Hybrid and 6.2L – with output that ranges from 302 to 403 HP. Technology doesn’t stop with the trailering but also is in the innovative Vortec engines. These use GM’s “vortex technology” that mixes incoming air and fuel for better fuel economy and an enhanced performance.

Other small innovative available technologies found on the Sierra are the rear vision camera, which makes hooking up a trailer super easy, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Bluetooth®4 personal cellphone connectivity to audio system for hands-free calling, and a 7” in-dash navigation system with 2-D or 3-D map graphics and 3 months of NavTraffic3.

So if you are looking for a truck with all the latest technology and innovations, the GMC Sierra is the truck for you.  If you would like to experience some of this tech, see your GMC truck dealer in Thunder Bay.
