new technologySo, the last post included a full description of some pretty great things being offered by GMC trucks this year in Thunder Bay ON.  The latest in infotainment systems for many of the new GMC Trucks offered in the sales department of your local new GMC truck dealership in Ontario involves an eight inch diagonal screen version offered on the GMC Canyon, GMC Yukon and GMC Sierra of Dominion Motors.

At the very beginning of the 2016 model year, these systems will be compatible only with Apple CarPlay.  On the seven inch screen in the GMC Sierra base models, you will see the availability of a truck that is compatible with Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto.  But, don’t worry too much if you are an Android guy or gal.  It will only be a short matter of time before the eight inch screened trucks also get the ability to use the Android Auto system as well. It is all expected to take place within the same model year.

“Apple CarPlay takes the iPhone features customers want to access while driving and puts them on the vehicle’s display in a smart, simple manner. This allows drivers to make calls, send and receive messages and listen to music right from the touchscreen or by voice via Siri. Apple CarPlay-supported apps include Phone, Messages, Maps, Music and third-party audio apps.”  Don’t forget the Android Auto counterpart that will be able to be used on the GMC Trucks in Thunder Bay as well.  This interface is built around Google Maps, Google Now and the ability to talk to Google, along with an ever expanding audio and messaging application involving WhatsApp, Skype, Google Play Music, Spotify and podcast players as well.
