android phoneWe write here, on behalf of your new and used GMC Truck Dealership in Thunder Bay ON, and do our best to keep you abreast of the latest news and information surrounding new GMC trucks and the other cars, trucks and SUVs that we offer for sale at your Dominion Motors Car Dealer.  Some of our latest findings relate to software upgrades.  Here is some of what we found on Canada’s GMC truck site, “A software upgrade enabling Android AutoTM phone compatibility for 2016 GMC Canyon, Sierra and Yukon models equipped with the 8-inch IntelliLink system will now be offered in Canada.”  When looking for this software on a current GMC truck that you already own, ask a dealer for details, “The upgrade will be performed by GMC dealers at no charge to consumers.  Owners of 2016 model year GMC vehicles that qualify for the software update will receive a communication from the brand.”

The addition is of Android Auto to Apple CarPlay, which was only just seen for the first time last year.  Both, allow you to sync your phone to your GMC Trucks via the IntelliLink screen.  With the appearance of the GMC Acadia, the above mentioned software, both Android and Apple versions will be more readily available when the 2017 models arrive at your local Ontario, Canada GMC dealers this spring.

The most noteworthy part of this new truck software is that it really begins with features that we all lean on heavily with our phones.  “Each system builds off select features smartphone users rely on most.”  Google Maps, Google Now and the ability to talk to Google are all three featured with Android Auto.  So much more is coming from that, things like WhatsApp, Google Play Music, Spotify and others.  Stay tuned for the latest in technology at your local new GMC Trucks Dealer in Thunder Bay this spring.
